KS2 Cross Country Event
Thu 16 Oct 2025What an absolutely phenomenal effort and EPIC sportsmanship from our Cottesmore Academy Cross Country runners this afternoon!
Not only did everyone who took place cross the finish line, but two runners claimed a first and second place 🌟
I was incredibly proud to watch their effort and commitment to representing our school and running an impressive distance, as well as the brilliant cheering and words of encouragement for their team mates.
Well done, everyone! 🌟 -
Cottesmore Historical Group
Tue 14 Oct 2025Team Stormzy had an inspiring afternoon hosting visitors from the Cottesmore Historical Group. Together, we explored what life in Cottesmore village and Kendrew Barracks would have been like during World War II, using a range of primary evidence and artefacts. I was also proud to share some special family treasures — my grandma’s Land Army medals, certificates, and scrapbook — which helped bring the history to life. Our discussions highlighted the vital contributions women made during the war and how their efforts shaped both local and national history.

Team Attenborough visit to Rutland Water
Thu 11 Sep 2025What a busy couple of days we have had in Team Attenborough!
Yesterday we went to Rutland Water to see the dam first-hand. We looked at a current map and identified some of the villages we could see from the middle of the dam, including Empingham and Hambleton. We then looked a map from the 1970s, before the dam was built, and tried to work out where we were on that map, without Rutland Water on there to help us! We also spent some time sketching what we could see in the landscape around us, ready for when we discuss the positive impacts the reservoir has brought. We even managed to squeeze in a a few minutes at the play area before coming back to school!
Today we had our first Forest School session, which the children really enjoyed. They played games, created wands, climbed trees, built dens and generally had a fantastic time, demonstrating our EPIC values throughout! They then finished off with a well-deserved hot chocolate.
Well done, Team Attenborough- I hope we haven’t tired you out too much! -
Corby Athletics Event
Fri 13 Jun 2025We are so so proud of our amazing Cottesmore Team! ⭐️🏅
They showed incredible collaboration with how they supported each other throughout the day - we definitely cheered the loudest!
They also showed amazing resilience - every single person had a go at at least one race and crossed the finish line and everyone also competed in their field event.
They were positive and smiley throughout and it was so lovely to see how happy they were for each other when someone in their team achieved their best. -
