Finally we got to welcome ALL of our children back into school. It was fantastic to have our school filled with all our children again today. Every child should have come home with a present from us.The bears were gifted to the children from one of our Governors:the bags are to let the children know that we’ve missed them. We hope they enjoy them!

On Friday 14th February 2020, the children (Year 1-5/6) from Cottesmore Academy took part in a school science fair. All the different classes decided to share their amazing learning from Term 3. This event was attended by the parents and friends of the children and they were all very impressed by the children’s new learning and understanding of their specific area of science that they were working on.
The areas were:
Year 1 - Seasonal changes
Year 2 - Plants
Year 3 - Magnets
Year 4 - The digestive system
Year 5/6 - Earth and Space
Mr Brown, who organised the event, said, “It was an amazing success! It was so lovely to see everyone enjoying the fair and talking about all their different learning.”

Good afternoon all,
On a Friday after the Star Learner Awards, we all take part in Read’N’Relax at 3pm - 3.20pm.
This is a wonderful opportunity to read to the children your favourite book!
We would love it if some of the parents would like to join us to read their favourite children’s book during this time. If you are interested, please message me and we can arrange a date for term 4!

On Monday 3rd February, the Year 5/6 children are going to hold a fundraising day to support The Red Cross Australia.
As a class, we have been learning about how to be journalists and as part of that the children decided that they wanted to hold a fundraising day to raise funds for the animals and people who have been effected by the wild bush fires in Australia and then write a newspaper report on the day.
The events that the children have decided to include are: wearing odd socks for the day; name the koala; a running challenge and a bake sale.

Today, Tuesday 28th January, the Padre and Chika visited the Year 5/6 children to help them to understand why Christians believe in God. The children have been thinking about questions to ask them. It was a lovely afternoon, full of new learning and understanding.

Today, Mrs Lucas and three children from Year 5/6 have been to Walkers' Bookshop in Oakham to spend £200 on new books for the school! The money was awarded to Cottesmore Academy after Mrs Lucas entered a competition. To qualify for the money, we had to spend it in an independent bookstore of our choice and allow the children to choose the books.
The children chose from an amazing array of books and the staff at Walkers' Bookshop were fabulous and very welcoming! The children selected books that were situation for multiple different types of readers throughout the school from early readers to reluctant reader to avid readers! They made some wonderful book choices and we can't wait to read them.
