Sport at Cottesmore Academy

Press Release - Cottesmore goes for GOLD!

Welcome to sports at Cottesmore Academy 2022-2023!

Please have a look through all of the EPIC events, clubs and competitions that we have planned for this year.

Sports Clubs this Year

  • The children have had the chance to join enriching sporting clubs at lunch time and after school!
  • These have ranged from Boccia to Girls Football, meaning there will be a club for every child at our school from year 1 to 6.
  • These clubs will usually lead to an event or competition for our older children giving them the opportunity to join a team and represent our EPIC school.

Events coming up in Term 6:

  • Cricket - Year 5 and 6
  • Athletics - KS1
  • Athletics - KS2
  • Multi-skills festival
  • Sports Day!

Say Hello to our Sports Ambassadors.

Jenson

Hello, I’m Jenson. The reason why I wanted to be a sports ambassador is because I like to do sports. I think I have what it takes. I am helpful, fair and want to help other succeed and to enjoy sports as much as possible. Whilst helping I want to keep everyone safe. Some of my favourite sports are Football, Cricket, Basketball and Tennis. As a sports ambassador I want everyone to try new and different sports, like volleyball, archery and trampolining.

Sienna

My name is Sienna, I am a year 6. I am very grateful to be chosen as one of this year’s sports ambassadors. My interests are in Netball, Swimming, Football and Athletics. If you need me I will be in the year 6 classroom or outside.

Madison

Hi my name is Madison, I love taking part in sports and being active. My favourite sports are Football and Running. If you need any help, just ask me! I will be in the year 6 classroom mostly. I currently do running out of school and take part in football club and swimming at school.

Eddie

Hi my name is Eddie, I wanted to be a sports ambassador because I love to do sports. My favourite sports are Football and Running. In football I love to play outfield and don’t like being in goal as I hate waiting around. But that is only my opinion.

Our Roles

Our sports ambassadors have a lot of responsibilities around the school. The main trait we encourage from them is to act like a role model in and around the school. This could be through using great manners or doing well in class. Each and every one of them have shown this characteristic all year long.

They will also have weekly meetings with Mr Thompson who will set tasks and homework for them to complete. This is in order for them to successfully carry out new roles and be given larger responsibilities.

Finally we want to see all sports ambassadors helping classmates and pupils in our school with sporting activities and skills. They encourage learners to get moving and all know that children need 60 active minutes a day to maintain a good level of fitness, health and wellbeing.

Sports Events!

This Term the children are looking at the physical aspect of PE. We will be focussing on coordination and agility.
