Curriculum

Cottesmore Academy is a Primary School that is committed to high quality learning and teaching and meeting the needs of all the children in its care. We want our children to develop into confident, optimistic and capable learners – ready and willing to actively pursue, troubleshoot and evaluate learning for themselves, in and out of school. We plan to always be ‘EPIC’ as we strive to ensure we learn to collaborate, reflect on our learning, be independent, resilient and curious.

We believe that becoming EPIC allows us to achieve our motto - ‘Think, believe, dream, dare...we are heroes of our own adventures’.

•Be Independent - we want every child to think deeply about their learning and begin to take ownership. We want our children to make decisions and be clear on exactly what they need to know.   

•Be Collaborative – We want our children to able to work with and alongside others. We want our children to recognise their own and other’s strengths.   

•Be Resilient – We want our children to love learning and stay motivated even when they are faced with challenges. We want our children to develop perseverance and determination.   

•Be Reflective – We want our children to feel empowered to listen to and act on feedback. We want our children to feel empowered to listen to and act on feedback.   

•Be Curious – We want our children to ask questions, dare to take risks and make good decisions learning from experience. We want our children to be excited about learning and its possibilities   

We are only EPIC when our learning behaviours are put into practice.
