This week our focus writing genre is Newspaper Reports.
By the end of this week, you will have completed your writing mission: to write a newspaper report about the rocket launch that took place in America on Saturday 30th May 2020.
On Monday, you are going to read a newspaper report and answer some questions about it. Remember to use the text and what you have read to help you - you don't need to remember all of the answers, just find them in the text!
On Tuesday, you are going to learn about subordinating conjunctions and how to use them in your writing. (This will be a bit of a recap because we have looked at these before but it is really important that we are confident with using them in our writing as they really improve the quality.) There are some interactive activities and information for you to use and look at on BBC Bitesize that will help you with your learning and then some activities for you to complete.
On Wednesday, you are going to practise writing complex sentences that use subordinating conjunctions. Your sentences will focus on the rocket launch so they will help you with your final newspaper report.
On Thursday, you will be planning your newspaper report.
On Friday, you will be writing your newspaper report.

Once you have finished writing your newspaper report, you might want to present it so that it looks like a real news report on the front page of a newspaper. I can't wait to see your learning on your portfolio on Dojo!

This week, your spellings are homophones that include the long 'i' vowel sound.
Please see below for a guide on what you need to do for your spelling home learning.
(This week is Week 1)
• Monday – Thursday: In Week 1 your spelling work consists of you practising these words (using a writing pencil), using the look cover write check method. You can also choose to practise them using one of the ‘fun ways to practise your spellings’ if you would like to.
• Friday: Test – ask someone at home to test you on 10 of the spelling words you have been practising. Reflect on any words you found tricky – make these words/rules your focus for next week.
• Monday – Thursday: In Week 2 your spelling work consists of you including each word in a sentence then writing the sentences in your spelling book. You can also choose to practise them using one of the ‘fun ways to practise your spellings’ if you would like to.
• Friday: Test – ask someone at home to test you on all of the spelling words you have been practising.

This week, I want you to get moving each day by doing some dancing! You had a go at some of the dance workout routines by Oti Mabuse in Week 3 of your home learning and I thought it would be fun for you to learn some others this week.
I have linked some of my favourites below as suggestions but there are lots more on her Youtube channel that you might like too!

Remember that this is just a suggested physical activity to keep you active each day, but if you would rather, you could always continue to get moving with Joe Wicks this week, do some Cosmic Yoga or perhaps create an obstacle course in your garden.
