This week Team, we are going to look at another genre - INSTRUCTIONS. Earlier in the year, we looked at instructions when did our Mini MasterChef competition. This week we are going to write instructions to create our own Marvellous Medicine like George. They always use imperative verbs (bossy words), so that will be our main focus for the week. Here is what I want you to do each day to help build up to our final write. Remember to click on the star icons for all the slides and resources.
On Monday you are going to read a chapter for George's Marvellous Medicine and answer questions.
On Tuesday, you are going to focus on using imperative verbs.
On Wednesday, I want you to plan your instructions. Remember this just has to be notes.
On Thursday, I want you to write the three parts - title, hook and what you will need.
On Friday, I want you to complete your instructions. This section will be all about imperative verbs.
Go into each folder below to find out more about your daily learning!
We are on WEEK 1 of our work on the ‘a’ which makes a sound like ‘or’
This week's words have the letter ‘a’ which makes a sound like ‘or’ Please help by practising these words with your child. Your child is learning how letters can make different sounds.
You can find this weeks spelling sheet as an image below, but also as a word document you can download and print out. If you can't print, just write the words out in your spelling books.
• Monday – Thursday: Week 1 spelling work consists of children practising these words (using a writing pencil), using the look cover write check method. They can also choose to practise them using one of the ‘fun ways to practise your spellings’ if they would like to.
• Friday: Test – ask someone at home to test you on all of the spelling words you have been practising. Reflect on any words you found tricky – make these words/rules your focus for next week.
• Monday – Thursday: Week 2 spelling work consists of children including each word in a sentence then writing the sentences in their spelling book. They can also choose to practise them using one of the ‘fun ways to practise your spellings’ if they would like to.
• Friday: Test – ask someone at home to test you on all of the spelling words you have been practising.

This week Team for our Topic work, we will be learning about a very important even V.E. Day! On Friday (8th May 2020), it will be exactly 75 years since VE Day. VE Day - or 'Victory in Europe Day' - marks the day towards the end of World War Two (WW2) when fighting against Germany in Europe came to an end. On 8 May 1945, Prime Minister Winston Churchill made an announcement on the radio at 3pm that the war in Europe had come to an end, following Germany's surrender the day before.
As always team, I would like you to open and then work through the presentation below. This week there is a very special virtual lesson which will talk you through your learning. You will find the work to go with it as an attachment below. There are also some additional 'Over and Above' activites to challenge you too.
Joe Wicks' workouts are an EPIC way to get your brains ready to learn. You can do it live at 9.00 am or watch it later on catch up! This week for yoga, lets go on a Tiny T-Rex adventure!
