This week our focus writing genre is Narrative Writing (Stories).
By the end of this week, you will have completed your writing mission: to rewrite a chapter from the book Harry Potter
and the Philosopher’s Stone.
Your chapter will be based on the film clip below.
On Monday, you are going to read an extract from Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone and answer some questions about it. Remember to use the text and what you have read to help you - you don't need to remember all of the answers, just find them in the text!
On Tuesday, you are going to recap your previous learning on speech and how to use it in your writing. There is a video all about speech for you to watch on BBC Bitesize that will help you with your learning and then some activities for you to complete.
On Wednesday, you are going to practise using speech in your writing. (If you are going into school and are in Miss Turner's bubble, you will complete the activities for Wednesday together in school.)
On Thursday, you are going to improve some of my sentences using speech and some of the other writing features you have learnt about this year. (If you are going into school and are in Miss Turner's bubble, you will complete the activities for Thursdaytogether in school.)
On Friday, you are going to write your Harry Potter chapter.

Once you have finished writing your chapter, you might want to add some illustrations. I can't wait to see your learning on your portfolio on Dojo!
This week, your spellings use the prefixes 'im' and 'in'.
Please see below for a guide on what you need to do for your spelling home learning.
(This week is Week 2)
• Monday – Thursday: In Week 1 your spelling work consists of you practising these words (using a writing pencil), using the look cover write check method. You can also choose to practise them using one of the ‘fun ways to practise your spellings’ if you would like to.
• Friday: Test – ask someone at home to test you on 10 of the spelling words you have been practising. Reflect on any words you found tricky – make these words/rules your focus for next week.
• Monday – Thursday: In Week 2 your spelling work consists of you including each word in a sentence then writing the sentences in your spelling book. You can also choose to practise them using one of the ‘fun ways to practise your spellings’ if you would like to.
• Friday: Test – ask someone at home to test you on all of the spelling words you have been practising.

This week in maths, you will be continuing to learn about fractions - I was so impressed with how well you did with this learning this week, Team!
Miss Turner has put together some information and activities for each day to help you with your learning. (If you are going into school and are in Miss Turner's bubble, you will complete the activities for Wednesday and Thursday in school but the other activities will need to be completed at home.)

Science (Living Things and their Habitats)
This term, our science learning is focused on Living Things and their Habitats. This week, your learning and activities are all about habitats and habitat threats. (If you are going into school and are in Miss Turner's bubble, your science activities will be completed in school so you will not need to do these at home.)
