Hi Year 4 Team!
Welcome back to another week of remote learning. This week will be a little bit different for some of you, because some of you are going to be returning to school on Wednesday and Thursday - how exciting! We have really missed you all and can't wait to have you back.
You will still be completing your learning at home on Monday, Tuesday and Friday so you can access the learning you will need for these days on this page as you have been doing previously.
Miss Turner will be working with you on a Wednesday and a Thursday to complete the English and the Maths learning for those days so you won't need to complete these activities at home, unless you are not returning to school.
It is important that you complete the learning for Monday and Tuesday at home, as Miss Turner will be expecting you to have done this so that you are ready for learning on Wednesday.
Miss Turner will also be doing the Science learning with you on a Wednesday and a Thursday so you will not need to do this at home, unless you are not returning to school.
You will still be able to contact us via Class Dojo as always so please just send a message if you are unsure about any of the learning or what you need to do.
Have a super week everyone!
This week is Armed Forces Week! Normally, we join the army in celebrating this day and they do some wonderful activities but unfortunately this year that isn't possible but we would still like to celebrate this special day!
In school, we are planning to do a range of activities and if you would like to take part in them at home, that would be amazing!
Here are some of the things that you can do at home:
-Create an Armed Forces Week poster.
-Write a letter or speech about a person/s that you are thankful for within the Armed Forces.
-Take a picture of yourself with a photograph of the person/s that you are thankful for.
-Colour the Union Jack and display it at home.
-Create some bunting and display it at home.
-Learn the song "We'll meet again" by Dame Vera Lynn.
-Have an Armed Forces Day picnic!
If you are doing anything at home, please please please take some photos of what you are doing and send them to your teachers via dojo! We are planning to put loads of photos into a video at the end of the week!
This week our focus writing genre is Non-Chronological Reports.
By the end of this week, you will have completed your writing mission: to write a non-chronological report about an animal of your choice.
On Monday, you are going to read a non-chronological report all about hedgehogs and answer some questions about it. Remember to use the text and what you have read to help you - you don't need to remember all of the answers, just find them in the text!
On Tuesday, you are going to learn about paragraphs and how to use them in your writing. (This will be a bit of a recap because we have looked at paragraphs before but it is really important that we are confident with using them in our writing as they really help to guide the reader through your writing.) There is a video all about paragraphs for you to watch on BBC Bitesize that will help you with your learning and then some activities for you to complete.
On Wednesday, you are going to carry out some research about your chosen animal and use your research to help you to plan your non-chronological report.
On Thursday, you are going to start writing your non-chronological report about your chosen animal.
On Friday, you are going to finish writing your non-chronological report about your chosen animal.

Once you have finished writing your non-chronological report, you might want to add some pictures or diagrams and a bright, bold heading. I can't wait to see your learning on your portfolio on Dojo!
This week, your spellings use the prefixes 'im' and 'in'.
Please see below for a guide on what you need to do for your spelling home learning.
(This week is Week 1)
• Monday – Thursday: In Week 1 your spelling work consists of you practising these words (using a writing pencil), using the look cover write check method. You can also choose to practise them using one of the ‘fun ways to practise your spellings’ if you would like to.
• Friday: Test – ask someone at home to test you on 10 of the spelling words you have been practising. Reflect on any words you found tricky – make these words/rules your focus for next week.
• Monday – Thursday: In Week 2 your spelling work consists of you including each word in a sentence then writing the sentences in your spelling book. You can also choose to practise them using one of the ‘fun ways to practise your spellings’ if you would like to.
• Friday: Test – ask someone at home to test you on all of the spelling words you have been practising.
