This week our focus writing genre is Greek Myths. Myths were created by early civilisations to make sense of things happening in the natural world around them.
(To learn more about what myths are, watch this short video clip by following this link. https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/zx339j6/articles/ztxwsrd)
By the end of this week, you will have completed your writing mission: to write a mythical story based on King Midas and his Golden Touch.
On Monday, you are going to read a Greek Myth about Icarus and answer some questions about it. Remember to use the text and what you have read to help you - you don't need to remember all of the answers, just find them in the text!
On Tuesday, you are going to learn about possessive apostrophes and how to use them in your writing. There are some learning slides that you will need to read through carefully to help you understand what apostrophes are and when to use them and then some activities for you to complete.
On Wednesday, you are going to be writing sentences based on King Midas and his Golden Touch. This will give you chance to practise all of your writing skills, including using fronted adverbials, expanded noun phrases, speech and apostrophes.
On Thursday, you will be planning your Greek Myth.
On Friday, you will be writing your Greek Myth.

Once you have finished writing your Greek Myth, you might want to draw some pictures to go with it.
I can't wait to see your English learning on your portfolio on Dojo!
This week, your spellings are homophones that include the long 'i' vowel sound.
Please see below for a guide on what you need to do for your spelling home learning.
(This week is Week 2)
• Monday – Thursday: In Week 1 your spelling work consists of you practising these words (using a writing pencil), using the look cover write check method. You can also choose to practise them using one of the ‘fun ways to practise your spellings’ if you would like to.
• Friday: Test – ask someone at home to test you on 10 of the spelling words you have been practising. Reflect on any words you found tricky – make these words/rules your focus for next week.
• Monday – Thursday: In Week 2 your spelling work consists of you including each word in a sentence then writing the sentences in your spelling book. You can also choose to practise them using one of the ‘fun ways to practise your spellings’ if you would like to.
• Friday: Test – ask someone at home to test you on all of the spelling words you have been practising.

This week, I want you to get moving each day by doing some dancing again! All you need to do is copy the dance you see on the screen and have fun! These ones are short so to have a proper work out, you'll need to do a few each day.
Trolls: Can't Stop the Feeling
I like to move it
One Direction: What makes you beautiful
Pharrell Williams: Happy
High School Musical: We're all in this together
Camp Rock: This is me
Remember, as always, this is just a suggested physical activity to keep you active each day, but if you would rather, you could always continue to get moving with Joe Wicks this week, do some Cosmic Yoga or perhaps create an obstacle course in your garden.
