In grammar this week, we are going to be focusing on synonyms and antonyms.
A synonym is a word or phrase that means exactly or nearly the same as another word or phrase in the same language, for example shut is a synonym of close.
An Antonyms are words that have contrasting, or opposite, meanings. Like so much of the English language, "antonym" is rooted in the Greek language. The Greek word anti means opposite, while onym means name. Opposite name - that makes sense!
