Think, believe, dream, dare…

Day 5

Today we complete practical activities to embed the learning from the week. The activities are designed to give children practise and confidence in building and/or continuing AB and ABC patterns, as well as translating them using other objects, colours, sounds or actions.

Action patterns

Create an ABC pattern using three different actions (for example, jump/hop/ clap, arms up/arms to the side/arms down)

You could also repeat this using sounds or words (for example pop/bang/crash, repeat/core/pattern)

Creating Patterns

Encourage children to create their own AB patterns using items from inside and outside. For example, plates and cups, different sized or coloured building blocks, small toys. Ask: What comes next? How do you know?

This activity could also be repeated with ABC patterns.
