The focus of Think together is for children to recognise and continue both ABB patterns (Question 1 ) and AAB patterns (Question 2 ) where both patterns use the same objects: large and small shells. When they have identified what comes next in each pattern and explained how they know, discuss what is the same and what is different about the patterns. Draw out that the order of the shells has changed (small/large/large to small/small/large). When building the patterns, encourage children to verbalise the entire pattern as modelled previously. Ask children to describe what is different about the patterns.
