Think, believe, dream, dareā€¦

Day 2

In this Discover, the children learn to recognise when a container is full and describe the volume of liquid or sand in a container using the words full and not full. Some children may also use the words half full. Discuss what is happening in the scene. Show children real containers with water or mud in and talk about them.

Share focuses on the difference between full and not full. Encourage discussion around what full means (nothing more will fit in). Set up the some buckets/containers like in the picture and invite the children to see whether they can fit more sand/mud into the buckets/containers. Repeat with the water buckets. Ensure they understand the concept of full. Bringing children’s attention to Dexter’s comment may prompt them to use the word empty to describe the bucket with nothing in it.
