Think, believe, dream, dare…

Term 2

We have been really lucky to be able to kick start our theme of Stick Man with a visit to the theatre!! The children thoroughly enjoyed the performance, particularly when the dog and stick man came to join us in the audience. There was also a special appearance from Father Christmas which was super exciting for all! The children have come back with so many ideas about where they would like to take their learning and have suggested some activities that they would like to complete too!

Well done for completing your first half term at school team! We are so proud of how far you have come already and look forward to developing your knowledge and understanding further.

This term promises to be a very busy one, we’ve got a number of celebrations to think about and also our Christmas production! (information about this will be available nearer to the time). Our theme this half term will be the story of Stick Man! We will be exploring how the weather changes throughout the term and will definitely embark on an autumn walk adventure. The children have shown a real interest in living things, birds and where they live in particular, so we will explore this further this term to see where their interests will take us next!

We will continue to practise the sounds that have already been taught in phonics as well as learning new ones. We really appreciate the work that you are doing at home with the children in regard to letter formation and practising the sounds that have been covered, it really does make a huge difference to the learning taking place in school! Our Maths learning journey will continue too, we have explored numbers up to 2 so far so we will be finding out about numbers beyond 2 and also introducing the concept of more (addition) and less (subtraction). It has been amazing to see how much the children enjoy coming in to Maths World to find out what is in store for the session each day!

As the temperature is beginning to drop, we politely ask that your children bring their coats in to school every day. The doors to our outdoor area are always open during choosing times and we encourage them to put on their coats before choosing outside to minimise the chance of catching colds the best we can! The children are also welcome to bring in hats and gloves to keep them warm and as before, if you’d like to bring wellies in, pleased ensure that they are named and they can be kept under their peg in the cloakroom (we do still have some available for children to borrow so please do not worry!)

Mrs Brittain and I are super excited for this term, the children have had some fabulous ideas about what they would like to do and learn and we can’t wait to see them happening in the classroom!
