PE and Dance
We have a Dance lesson on a Tuesday afternoon and a Gymnastics lesson on a Thursday afternoon, therefore your child needs to bring in their PE kit every Monday and take it home every Friday. Please ensure that all parts of their kit are named. Please remember that if your child has long hair they must be able to tie it back for reasons of safety. All earrings and jewellery must be removed or taped for PE lessons.
At Cottesmore, we feel that homework is a vital way for you to be a part of your child’s learning.
Your child should be reading daily and will have the opportunity to change their book every Wednesday and Friday. Please ensure that you sign and date your child's Reading Record as they can earn Dojo points if they read a minimum of 4 times a week.
Over the course of the term children will have a creative homework topic based around our termly theme. This allows them to complete homework that that have an interest in and ensures they can be creative. The children will also be set spellings. The Maths homework is accessed via Times Table Rockstars (TTRS -www.ttrockstars.com ). You and your child will need to know their individual login for TTRS – if you have not received this please speak to your child’s class teacher in the first instance. Please refer to our 'Homework' page for further details.
It is vital that your children bring in water to keep themselves hydrated. Please ensure that you provide your child with 2 water bottles each day (one for the classroom and one for their lunch box). We have a water bottle box within the classroom in order for children to be able access their drinks throughout the day.
Celebration Assembly will take place every Friday at 2.45pm. Each week one child from each class will be nominated for a Golden Award by the class team. If your child is nominated you will receive a phonecall on Thursday and will be invited to attend the assembly. We would like you to keep this a secret from your child in order for them to be surprised on the day!
At Cottesmore we believe that effective communication is essential to ensure that your child achieves their full potential. There are various ways in which you can communicate with us as a team. Please feel free to speak directly to your child’s teacher, or speak to a member of the Leadership Team who will always be available at the beginning or end of the school day. Please also check Class Dojo regularly for any messages and to see photos and updates of your child's day in the classroom!
How can I help my child?
Please try and read with your child every day and help them to practise their spellings. We will be rewarding children who consistently complete their spelling and times table homework.
We would encourage you to talk to your child about their learning, this will reinforce their knowledge. And you never know…. You might learn something yourself!
